Diamond Shape

many diamond shapes available can be divided into four general categories of shape, each one of which has particular geometric properties that determine and must be taken into account when deciding how to cut a diamond.

The most common circle shape is obviously the round cut, although circular geometry must be applied when cutting oval shaped diamonds, pear shaped diamonds, and heart shaped diamonds. Circular geometry also comes into play, albeit to a lesser extent, in the cushion and marquise diamond cuts.

Square shaped diamonds include the Princess cut, which features equilateral sides and the elongated radiant and emerald cuts, as well as Avi Paz Group's exclusive, patented Prince Cut®. Cushion cut and Asscher cut diamonds also employ some elements of square geometry, although these designs cannot strictly be defined as four-sided.

Triangle geometry is essential not only for the three-sided trilliant cut, but also in cutting the pointed heart, pear, and marquise shapes.

The octagon is the most complex geometrical category of diamond shape. The clipped corners of an eight-sided Asscher cut diamond must be perfectly aligned for the cut to be effective, although both the radiant and emerald cuts employ octagonal principles.

Avi Paz Group's current diamond inventory features round diamonds of up to eight carats; heart shaped and pear shaped diamonds of up to five carats; and Princess, cushion, and oval diamonds of up to four carats.

Radiant cut diamonds and emerald cut diamonds of up to three carats can also be purchased from Avi Paz Group, as can marquise and trilliant cut diamonds.
