This past week, Chinese smartphone maker Huawei announced a new and intriguing partnership with Swarovski Gemstones to unveil two new versions of its smartwatches. According to Diamonds.net, Huawei announced a “new female focus for the company” at CES Las Vegas, backing that statement up with two new Jewel and Elegant editions to complement the Classic, Active and Elite smartwatches Huawei has already released.
While the price is yet to be revealed, we do know that the Jewel smartwatch features 68 Swarovski zirconia dotted around the rose gold-plated case, which the company promises “glistens and shines like nothing else available on the smartwatch market today.” The Elegant Smartwatch has a “knurled” (bumpy) pattern effect around its rose gold-plated case.
Another high-end watch maker, Tag Heuer, announced earlier this month that it will launch its first smartwatch late 2016 or early 2017. According to wareable.com, Tag Heuer will unveil several smartwatch collections, including a gold and a diamond-set version.
Huawei and Tag Heuer, however, are not the only players in the field of sumptuous smartwatches. Earlier this year, Brikk, which designs and manufactures couture products and accessories, unveiled an especially luxurious edition of the Apple watch – the $115,000 Lux Watch Omni – a customized version of the smartwatch, covered in diamonds and 18-karat gold. According to techtimes.com, the company has also released an 18-karat pink gold, 24-karat yellow gold and a platinum version. There are also slightly cheaper models, like the Lux Watch Standard model which goes for $7,500 to $8,500, and is available in pink gold, yellow gold and platinum. The Lux Watch Deluxe is yet another model; this one offers multiple rows of diamonds across the watch face and band, but costs slightly more… to be the proud owner of the Deluxe edition, you’ll have to part with $49,995.
