Diamonds and Drama: A-Listers Flash their Bling on Oscar Night

The 88th Academy Awards were rife with drama, from the absence of African American nominees to Chris Rock’s blast of the “boycott brigade” in his opening monologue. Leo DiCaprio finally took home an Oscar, and Soptlight shocked everyone by overtaking Vegas favorites to win Best Picture. Like every year, there was also plenty of drama on the red carpet, as A-listers brought their A-game and flashed some stunning Oscar bling.

According to Forbes, this was the year of diamonds and white metals, mostly platinum. Necklaces were huge and dramatic, and the earrings could be seen from miles away.

Charlize Theron, for instance, wore $3.7 million worth of Harry Winston Diamonds, including a 48-carat Secret Cluster Diamond Necklace, 15.49 carats Diamond Earrings, and a 8.78-carat Cushion-Cut Diamond Ring. Olivia Munn sparkled with a $1 million Forevermark bracelet, while Cate Blanchett went for a classic Tiffany & Co. look complete with diamond drop earrings in platinum, a starfish cuff in platinum with round diamonds, and a 2.3-carat diamond platinum ring.

Oscar winner Brie Larson wore diamond and pearl earrings by Japanese designer Niwaka, while Kate Winslet kept it original, as she always does, with jewelry designed by Indian diamond jewelry designer, Nirav Modi, including a 39-carat bracelet.
