If you’re a vintage watch lover, then this upcoming online auction was made especially for you: Tag Heuer will auction more than 70 vintage Heuer watches in an online auction this September.
The auction will be managed by online watch reseller Crown & Caliber and according to its CEO, Hamilton Powell, who’s quoted in a Bloomberg piece on the subject, the market has never been readier for it: “The Heuer market right now is experiencing a huge boom in interest over the past few years. “I think it’s partly because of the trend toward vintage watches in general from the community and brands alike—you see a lot of brands releasing “Heritage” collections in the last couple of years and bringing back older designs as inspiration. But I think it’s also because Heuer watches have such a rich history not only in the watch world, but in sports and racing culture as well, and so many of their designs are iconic and timeless”.
According to Bloomberg, the sale will include some seldom-seen pieces, such as the Heuer Monaco 74033N, also known as the Dark Lord, which could fetch between $60,000 and $70,000 a piece. Another notable watch on auction will be the Jo Siffert – a “white dialed Autavia with blue accents sported by the Swiss Formula One star”.
The auction will run online via Crown & Caliber’s website, but New York residents will be able to check out the entire collection at the Trunk Club’s New York City Clubhouse from September 19 through September 22 – the entire time the auction is live.
